A]. Bachelor of Science Clinical Medicine and Community Health (BSCM)

Current statistics shows that Clinical Officers –to-potential patient’s ratio is very low in East Africa. For example in Kenya, the ratio of Medical Doctors to patients is one (1) to forty three thousand (43,000). Therefore there is a need to train more clinicians. ISMAT’S training of Clinical Officers at degree level will not only contribute to enhance standards of health care delivery, but will also open up avenues of continued professional development. As a trainee of ISMAT’s BSCM programme, we expect the roles and function of the graduates to include:
- Provision of curative, preventative and promote health services
- Management of health services
- Generation of information
- Dissemination of information
- Community leadership
ISMAT is working closely with Clinical Officers Council and the Commission of Higher Education(CHE) to complete the validation process of this academic programme. Maseno University is also on board as the Institution that will vet and award the BSCM degree.

One such technique is craniosacral therapy (CST) which may be utilized as an adjunct by chiropractors, physical and occupational therapists, and osteopaths.
