New Campus

To accomodate ISMAT's expansion programme the board of directors has acquired property for the building of a new world class campus in Kisumu. The infrastructure will include lecture halls, high tech laboratories for research, library and student hostel & gymnasium facility.

Training of Government Officials

ISMAT was recently called upon by the Ministry of Education to provide capacity building by training District Education Officers (DEO) in ICT. Training was offered using a first class curricula and electronic workbooks that were developed at ISMAT. These workbooks and curriculum, served as a training aid during sessions, and as a valuable reference tool thereafter. The curriculum incorporates ideas and concepts proven successful globally. This abandons the typical approach found in user guides and theoretical laboratory learning in favor of a workflow and hands-on computer laboratory teaching approach. We believe the curricula’s are developed to approach problem solving based on real life and work situations, and as such brings the trainees up the learning curve far faster than any general university tutorial. This means the materials were laid out in a logical and easy-to-follow format. They clearly illustrated the common fallacy while providing numerous real life examples that apply to a variety of situations and lines of inquiry. ISMAT successfully trained 150 participants covering 75 Districts. See Pics

Disaster Preparedness Strategy

As part of our cooperate responsibility, ISMAT has worked and made efforts within the community to partner with various stakeholders in solving or alleviating Health, Medical or Biotechnology issues. And recently, we realized that Nyanza province (Kisumu in specific) had not developed a comprehensive plan (preparedness) to manage disasters. In view of these situations, ISMAT formulated a comprehensive disaster management plan. In lue of ISMAT's efforts and proposals, the government of Israel has earmarked and funded Nyanza provicial hospital upgrades with the view of increasing the ICU bed capacity and general medical disaster preparedness.
